Consultative Meeting on Parks Revenue Sharing between the National and County Governments
As part of implementing the Presidential directive on sharing of revenue from National Parks between the national Government and county governments, a team chaired by the Principal Secretary for Wildlife Sylivia Museiya and Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime convened at IGRTC offices to review the progress and fast track the matter.
This is part of the ongoing efforts to finalize transfer of functions and streamline implementation by both levels of Government, address issues of human-wildlife conflicts, community involvement and sharing of revenue and benefits. The teams will now embark on the key activities, involvement of stakeholders and in-depth analysis to deliver a framework that will guide the implementation.
The technical team draws membership from the State Department of Wildlife, Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), Kenya Wildlife Services(KWS), Council of Governors (CoG), National Treasury and representation from Taita Taveta County.
