IGRTC as the entity mandated under the COK, 2010 Art (2) and the IGR Act 2012, hosted the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage in a consultative meeting on the intergovernmental dispute between Taita-Taveta and the Ministry on matters of revenue sharing from Tsavo National Park.

The meeting was for the ministry to respond to the issues raised by the county apart from Revenue sharing, the county is also seeking employment opportunities for locals within KWS and compensation for destruction and damages caused by Human-wildlife conflicts.

Vice chairperson Saadia Kontoma who is also the thematic chair Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism (ADR) in her remarks says the Committee is mandated to facilitate an amicable resolution of intergovernmental disputes through ADR and called on the two parties in dispute to cooperate in resolving the matter for better service delivery to the people of Taita-Taveta and the nation.

This is in line with the presidential directive on government agencies to seamlessly settle intergovernmental disputes out of court.
