Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is one of the key pillars in solving intergovernmental conflicts. IGRTC vice Chairperson Ms. Saadia Kontoma together with Members  Mr. John Burugu, Mrs. Linet Mavu, Mrs. Angeline Hongo, and Mr. John Kimwela,  paid a courtesy call to Taita Taveta Deputy Governor H.E. Hon Christine Kilalo
The team held a consultative meeting on intergovernmental disputes between the county government of Taita Taveta and Kenya wildlife services on matters of revenue sharing from Tsavo National park, employment of locals within KWS, and compensation for destruction and damages caused by Human-Animal conflicts. The county Government of Taita Taveta cites that 62% of the county’s land is within Tsavo National park and does not collect reasonable revenue from proceeds of tourism and as a result considered filing a petition to determine aspects of equity in revenue share to boost its revenue base.
IGRTC is mandated to facilitate amicable resolution of such disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism.
The  visit is to inform the new county leadership on the progress made in solving the dispute and seeking their support for better service delivery from both levels of Government.
