Joint Council of Governors and Senate Consultative Forum on issues in the Water Sector.

As an institution fostering harmonious intergovernmental relations, IGRTC CEO, Dr. Kipkurui Chepkwony has today attended a joint Council of Governors and Senate Consultative Forum on Emerging and Existing Topical issues in the Water Sector at PrideInn Paradise Resort, Mombasa.

This high-level consultive forum brought together Water and Sanitation PS Mr. Julius Korir CBS, Senate Committee on County Public Investment and Special Funds under the stewardship of Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Council of Governors Committee on Water, Forestry and Natural Resources Management led by Governor Andrew Mwadime, Water Works Development agencies, and other key stakeholders.

The meeting sought to discuss extensively the general overview of the water sector in Kenya, analysis of the legal frameworks, and to explore and enhance areas of intergovernmental consultation in areas pertaining water sector. This is in line with the recently concluded validation of sector reports to pave the way for the gazettement of the unbundled elements.

While giving his remarks, Dr. Kipkurui Chepkwony underscored the role and mandate of IGRTC in ensuring both levels of government can work harmoniously for the betterment of Kenyans. He further reiterated the need for a progressive conversation regarding the implementation and operationalization of sector forums. This collective endeavor by the stakeholders will ensure effective service delivery.
